Health Provision in Thornton - We need a new way of thinking

The population of Thornton is growing.  As well as putting a strain on the local schools and roads they biggest issue we face as a community is the health provision we receive from the PCT.  A recent letter sent to our local NHS by the community council received the reply that they have no plans to invest any additional funds in Thornton over the next five years.  I believe this is a terrible state of affairs. We have in Thornton an ageing population. The current services we receive although good are provided in small cramped facilities with no room for expansion. The medical centre also is bursting at the seams. We need better facilities and should demand that the PCT   hold a consultation with our community to discuss the services we have in our area. To do this we have to work together to deliver better services. Therefore through Thornton Community partnership I and local resident and campaigner Melanie Milnes have put our heads together to campaign for a health consultation. BUT we need your support. To do thus the community has to work together so we need you to show your support by signing one of the petitions around the village and by taking part in our survey.

In the past they tried to relocate the chiropodist to allerton but after campaigning it was returned to Thornton. Given the increased costs of attending hospital  in Bus fares and  parking costs  should we not benefit from the same service other practices have to offer  and not a two tier  health service.

Please complete the survey and sign the petition and we will work on your behalf to improve our health service for Thornton.
